Some Tips for Playing Waffle

1. Start with Easy, Obvious Words

Look for words that immediately stand out, such as familiar prefixes or common words. For example, “apple,” “table,” or “bread.” This will help you get a strong start and reduce the number of possible moves.

2. Focus on Vowels

Pay close attention to the vowels in the puzzle. Since vowels (like A, E, I, O, U) appear in nearly every word, figuring out where they go can drastically reduce the possible words in each row and column.

3. Look for Common Word Pairings

Check if you can form common word pairs, like “at” in “cat,” or “in” in “mind.” These small building blocks can help you identify other words more easily.

4. Make Strategic Moves

Since you have a limited number of moves, prioritize swapping letters that affect multiple words at once. This can help you solve two or more words with a single move.

5. Use the Grid Symmetry

The Waffle grid is often symmetrical, so if you solve a word on one side, you can often infer the words on the opposite side based on the letters already placed.

6. Avoid Overthinking Single Moves

If you’re stuck and you know a few letters are in the right place, don’t hesitate to try swapping them around to see if new possibilities emerge. Sometimes taking a small risk can reveal key connections.

7. Use the Limited Moves Wisely

Keep track of your moves and think ahead. Try to make each move count by solving as many letters as possible with each swap. Waffle is all about efficient problem-solving.

8. Don’t Be Afraid to Backtrack

If you think you’ve made a wrong swap, don’t hesitate to use a move to backtrack and reset. It’s better to fix an error early than waste moves later.
